Dear all

Sorry for writing in English, but I had only 5 danish lessons until now.

I'm a 36 years old electrical engineer from Switzerland. We (My wife, two children (1 and 3 years old), a I) thinking about moving to Denmark,

Since ten years we have our family van, and if we move, we would like to take it with us. Here the facts of our T3 Syncro:

- 06/1991 16'' JX
- 91.000 km
- actual engine is a 1.9 AFN TDI from VW Sharan with 110 hp
- Seikel Chassi
- 225/75 R16 on a steel wheel from T4
- 60 mm track extension
- brake system from Audi A6
- oil cooler

I know I have to pay a rather high registration fee to take my car into Denmark to the SKAT. But before paying it, will there be any trouble with the registration from technical point of view? The cars is in an excellent technical condition, and all modifications are written to the official Swiss and former German registration papers.

Was war vorher für ein Motor drinnen?

In DK gibt es bei der Aufrüstung zum 110 PS AFN eine Grenze von - ich glaube 20% - weiss aber nicht genau.
Und denke an die "jaerlichen" afgifter von in etwa 14.000 kronen die kommen werden beim Diesel, wir kennen das in D als KFZ-Steuer ... gewaltiger Unterschied eben. Darum ruesten viele in DK um auf Reihenvierzylinder Benziner 90 bis 110 ps oder auch Boxer Subaru.

Denke da kommen noch antworten.

Hvordan var reglerne med motorkonvertering fra JX eller MV til Diesel AFN 110 hk???
Mener man kun må opruste med maks 20%?
Afgifterne på en diesel AFN 110 hk i Danmark er omtrent 14.000 kroner årligt?

Okay, da nun aber der Bus eine Eintragung AFN 110 PS hat ist das aus meiner Sicht gerade etwas unwissend, wie genau weiss ich nicht im Moment. Ich kenne nur die 20% Regel beim Umbau in DK, wobei dann neue afgifter auf den Wagen faellig werden. So in etwa wie bei einer Neuzulassung ...

Motor , den blev synet og godkendt flere gange ,det største problem er den årlige skat som du skriver Jens på 14000kr ,det kan få alle til at bygge om til benzin hvor afgift er på ca 6600kr

Thanks a lot for your inputs.

It's right, I have the old German and the actual Swiss papers for my camper van, so I hope the registration will not be a problem.

This annual car tax for diesel you mentioned, must I also pay the full rate even when the car is registered as camper van? Up from what age, I can register my T3 as vintage car? Will this make any difference in the tax rate?

We planned to bring all our three cars (VW T3 1.9 TDI, Skoda Octavia 2.0 TDI, Skoda Fabia 1.2 FSI) to Denmark. So if I understand it correctly, we will pay about 35.000 DKK per year car taxes?

Hej Matze the tax pr.year is ca. 4500kr for oktavia and 1200kr for Fabia ,16" Syncro 14000kr ,when you take the cars to Dk you have to pay one time registreringsafgift it is ca.50 % of the Price of a similar Danish car , the Syncro is so old it vil be about 13-16000kr .I only drive my t3 in the sommer it is half Price i take the nr plades of in the autum and by new at spring .Sorry for my english i am a bit rysty.

As i remember it their are some special rules regarding the vat when you take cars into Denmark together with you personel belongings, this should do it cheaper, but like Poul i am an old guy  and maybe this rules is changed.

Thanks a lot for all the information's!
It's getting real now, I just sign my contract and will start on 1st of July. Means, we will move the Denmark in middle of June. We just decides to sign of our syncro and store it in Germany. When we are sure we will stay in Denmark (I think after 6-9 months) we will buy a house and import the van.
Does anybody know? Is the a limitation in time until when you can bring your belongings during move to Denmark? In Switzerland you had 5 years to bring all your belongings free of duty. Of course you had to proof, that the things already belongs to you in minimum 6 month before your relocation started.

But the good thing is, when coming from Switzerland, that you are used to things being bloody expensive :)

Now I got the binding offer from SKAT.

For the bus it will be about 28.000 DKK registerfee. Almost double from what we expected. We think to import it nevertheless, because when we decide to sell it in a couple of years the handelpris in Denmark should be higher then in Germany. Or what do you think?

For Octavia and Fabia togehter  the registration fee will be about 120.000 DKK. More or less what we expected.

The reason for the high register fee, is probably the low mileage. If it had been 191.000 km instead, it would probably have been a lot cheaper.

Also, you might have to buy or borrow some other wheels for the syncro, because in Denmark wheel spacers are not allowed. You can legally reduce the offset of the rims with max 10 mm, at each side, so that the track can be extended with 20 mm in all. This is of course most necessary when the car is inspected. ;) ;) ...witch you will have to every second year.

.....yes... Denmark is not a very car friendly country.  ::) :)

Ich denke der Wertzuwachs des Fahrzeuges in Deutschland wird höher sein als in Dänemark. Die zukunftige Entwicklung zum Veteranbil nach 35 bzw. Jahren wäre zwar eine Option, das Gleiche gilt jedoch auch für Deutschland.

Is this true that spaces are not allowed at all in Danmark? But they are recorded in the German and swiss papers since years. I could not just dismount them, because I have the brake from Audi A6. They will not fit into wheel without spaces. So there is really no chance???

As far as I know. Yes. But others at this forum may be wiser or better updated than I. :-\

Many years ago certain small spacers (6 mm)was allowed at certain cars, but I seriously doubt that 60 mm can be approved. Sorry. 

My Badroadcamper ( Sprinter ) has been approved with a 36 mm wider track than standard, because the rims, I have bought, are TÜV approved for the Sprinter, after the Merkblattes 751 norm. Normally you are only allowed 20 mm wider track, than standard, in Denmark.
So if you can find rims with the right offset without spacers, so maybe...

So at last I would know if my spacers are allowed before I pay the registration fee.

What if the do now allow me to have my T3 running with danish number plates because of this modifications? Is it allowed then do drive with foreign number plates?  ;)

I am not an expert in this, but I can tell you, that if you have an adresse in Denmark, and drives around with foreign number plates after a certain (very short) time,  SKAT will give you a heavy fine and make you pay the full tax, before you gets your car back, if you are stopped in a raid.
Concerning the process, I am not certain. Others at this site may have better knowledge about this.

I may be able to help a bit having lived in Zürich for 7 years and imported and exported T3s from and to Denmark, Switzerland and Germany.....

Since you will take your Syncro as part of your household ("Flyttegods" in Danish) and since you car is approved in Switzerland then it will also be approved as it is in Denmark.

The same was true for me when importing a T3 WhiteStar with a AZZ engine to Switerland instead of with the original JX engine. Normally this would be close to impossible - but since it was imported as household goods when we moved to Zürich it was no problem.

of topic ---- Im looking for a Doka, preferentially a syncro...... or any kind of T3 with a subaru engine.

Thanks a lot for your reply.
Do you think the tax will be even about 14 kDKK /year with the AFN engine? In my papers I fullfil EURO 3 norm and I have a oxidation catalyst and a particulate filter. I germany I would get the green emission sticker. Is there any tax reduction based on the new cleaner engine or is the tax calculation only done based on year of construction an fuel?

Hej Matze there is a dif. on 1000,00kr with or without filter so the tax pr/ year is 13480kr or 14480kr ,you can try and ask the "Synsvirksomheder " if its ok , it is best to have the exact carpaper from the donor car ,or god specifikation .
