Titel: Importing a Westfalia to Denmark
Indlæg af: esegeta efter 04. Januar 2013 kl: 22:37:50
Hello T3 community!
I have a Westfalia Joker from 1984 and as my temporary permit has expired
I have to ask for a danish license plate.
Do you have any tip about this process?
Is there any special fee for used cars from the 80's?

Thanks a lot for your help.
Francesco

hi Francesco
you need to talk to SKAT or look at their website , you will probably end up with a one of payment of about 10000-15000 kroner in registration tax and then a yearly road tax of between 9-12000 kr depending on the weight of the vehicle and fuelt type
welcome to denmark

The registration tax  is as Jason says between 10000-15000 kroner, (but sometimes it can be about 8-9000 kroner, depending on a lot of things). and the road taxes are:
If i is a gasoline that weighs under 1500kg, the road tax is 5380 kroner pr. year
If it weighs over 1500kg, the tax is 7420 kroner pr. year
And it if a Diesel:
Under 1500kg, 8000 kroner pr. year  +1000kr pr. year. if you dont have a particulate filter.
and over 1500 kg it is 10880 kroner pr. year +1000kr. pr. year if you dont have a particulate filter

And before your T3 can get licensplates it have to pass a danish MOT.

Welcome to Denmark :)

Hi Francesco.

I have just been through the procedure with a VW T3 Westfalia 1987.
Don't expect numberplates within a month or so. It took SKAT 2,5 months to reply back that they needed pictures. Remember those when you ask for registration fee (registreringsafgiften)...
Then 1 month to decide the registration fee (registreringsafgiften) (13000kr). I have now filed a complaint. To expensive.
Waiting time again.

Best of luck.

If any questions, you are welcome to ask. I've done a lot of imports to DK.
